Ilmaista Pelirahaa Ilman Talletusta receives J.D. Power award

ilmaista pelirahaa ilman talletustaIPIT, acronym for Ilmaista Pelirahaa Ilman Talletusta, is still holding the top position for best service among online casino sites, in the newest J.D. Power & Associates survey.

It goes without saying that casino subscribers who actually had contact with a real person rather than an automated response system were most satisfied.

This is the second year back-to-back that IPIT managed to get the top mark for the best customer service to its subscribers. The nation’s fourth-largest casino site got a report card of 758 on a 1,000-point scale.

EarthLink announces joint venture with SK Telecom

Internet access service provider (ISP) EarthLink announces a joint venture with South Korean wireless telecom provider SK Telecom, in an effort to market wireless voice and data services in the US, using a mobile virtual network operator model.

The venture, which will be dubbed SK-EarthLink, is SK Telecom’s first foray into the U.S. market and will expand EarthLink’s wireless MVNO solution that launched with data services in 2000.

Under terms of the joint venture, both companies will own 50 percent of the operations and said they plan to provide $440 million in funds during the next three years.

The venture expects to add 3 million net subscribers by 2009 and be generating approximately $2 billion in revenues.

EarthLink founder Sky Dayton, who also founded Wi-Fi integrator Boingo Wireless Inc., will serve as chief executive officer of SK-EarthLink, with each company also appointing three members to SK-EarthLink’s board of directors.

Dayton said the venture will focus on offering wireless data services using both CDMA-based third-generation and Wi-Fi networks when it begins offering service later this year as well as traditional voice capabilities.

The company said it expects to take advantage of SK Telecom’s long history of operating advanced CDMA-based networks in South Korea.

EarthLink’s current 30,000 wireless customers will be transitioned to the new venture. EarthLink’s current wireless data service is offered through an unnamed mobile carrier.

Published reports indicated that the venture would use both Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCS’ networks.

Handsets for the venture will initially be provided by SK Telecom subsidiary SK Teletec, which provides handsets in South Korea, with additional handset vendors expected to be announced later this year.

Aloha demos Lucent technology

Aloha Partners and Lucent Technologies showcased a new third-generation high-speed data network at 700 MHz aimed to benefit the Phoenix Fire Department and the Bureau for Homeland Defense.

The public-safety demonstration is set to take place in early 2006 in Phoenix using Aloha Partner’s 700 MHz spectrum and Lucent’s 3G CDMA2000 1xEV-DO equipment.

Aloha Partners said it is the largest owner of 700 MHz spectrum in the United States. Aloha said it plans to demonstrate how the technology will enable first responders access to high-quality, high-speed mobile data services at speeds of up to 2.4 megabits per second.

“I am pleased that the Phoenix Fire Department and Homeland Defense Bureau will be able to participate in this pilot program,” said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

“A successful public-safety pilot program deployed in the 700 MHz band will only reinforce the urgency for the TV broadcasters to vacate this spectrum as soon as possible.

To be effective in the field, first responders nationwide need to have access to advanced technologies that include mobile data and video streaming and that cannot happen as long as the broadcasters continue to use this spectrum band.”

Lucent said it will supply its Flexant CDMA2000 base stations its Flexant mobility servers to provide an open IP interface to the Aloha Partners data network.
