Samsung just announced the availability of its new media-savvy handset.

With the SGH F-500's large swiveling LCD screen, users can access Div-X movies, as well as TV broadcasts.

"The addition of Div-X Certification to the Samsung F-500 mobile handset opens a broad and new ecosystem of digital media that can be taken on the road, while still preserving the kind of high-quality experience that video aficionados demand," said Kevin Hell, president of Div-X.

The Samsung F-500 is scheduled for release later this year.

In other news, BenQ has selected Taiwan's Siano Mobile Silicon SMS-1010 multi-standard mobile TV receiver chip to enable MDTV in BenQ's mobile phones.

BenQ expects to launch the multi-standard TV-enabled phones in Europe and Asia next year.
