A serious network outage affected BlackBerry service in the Western Hemisphere beginning late yesterday.
The major service failure left users with a backlog of emails, and no idea as to how and when the problem
would be solved.
BlackBerry's email service wasn't restored until later this morning, EST.
As of now, there's still no explanation from Research In Motion on the exact cause of the system failure, or
how many of its estimated eight million subscribers have been affected so far.
A recorded message on the company's customer support line only notified users of the service interruption.
A statement issued today by the company's public relations firm only said, "The root cause of this network
interruption is still under review, but service for most customers was restored overnight and RIM is closely
monitoring our system in order to maintain our normal service levels."
