In an effort to improve the overall functionality of iPhones, Cisco Systems and Apple are currently negotiating.
Two months ago, the two companies had agreed to share the name iPhone, avoiding a potential court battle.
Today, Cisco would like Apple's iPhone to work with its corporate phone systems. There are no discussions about
making Cisco's Internet-based home phone compatible with Apple's cell phone/iPod combo.
Cisco's Chief Development Officer Charlie Giancarlo says "we're optimistic, but it's still early to tell."
With a price tag of $499 for the 4 Gb model, and $599 for the 8 Gb, Apples's iPhones are expected in about
two months.
Previously, Apple had predicted sales of 10 million phones for 2008, and wireless carrier AT&T/Cingular Wireless
hopes to get 1 million phones on the first day to equip the 1 million potential new customers who have already
inquired about the iPhone.
