Today Verizon Wireless has launched new mobile handsets which includes the BlackBerry Curve 8330 from
Research In Motion, LG’s en-V2, the Verizon Wireless-branded XV-6900, Motorola’s MOTO Q-9c and the Alias by
Samsung.
Most of these handsets are already available from other wireless carriers.
The BlackBerry Curve 8830, which will be available from Verizon Wireless next month, features all the
usual BlackBery functionality people have come to expect in a small, light and fashionable package.
As RIM’s smallest and lightest full-QWERTY smartphone, the Curve 8830 “combines stylish looks with the
tools people need to manage their professional responsibilities and maintain personal communications.”
The BlackBerry Curve 8330 will be available online at all Verizon Wireless stores for $269.99 after a $50
mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
Users who sign up for qualifying voice and data plans will be eligible for an additional $100 credit.
Manufactured by HTC, the XV-6900 is a touch-screen-based, Windows Mobile 6 handset, featuring a built-in
speakerphone, Bluetooth 2.0, an expandable micro-SD slot with support up to 8 GB, 2-megapixel camera with video
and internal 256 MB of ROM/128 MB RAM.
It will be available in a week for $349.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
The XV-6900 also comes with the additional $100 credit, with the purchase of a qualifying monthly service plan.
LG’s enV2, successor to its enV handset, gets a makeover with a new slim redesign and sophisticated black or
maroon finish.
Similar to the enV, it supports V CAST Music and Video, VZ Navigator, Bluetooth, dual speakers and a 2-megapixel
camera. The enV2 also comes with a full QWERTY keypad and 2.4-inch internal screen.
It will be available for $129.99 after a $50 rebate with a new two-year customer agreement sometime this month.
Not to be outdone, Samsung announced the Alias will be available from Verizon Wireless around April 15.
Successor to the popular Samsung SCH-u740, the Alias sports the dual-hinge design packaged in a cool silver
finish. When users open the phone horizontally it features a full-QWERTY keyboard, when opened vertically, the
handset becomes a clamshell phone.
The Alias will be available mid-month for $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
Finally, Motorola’s most recent Moto Q handset, the MOTO Q 9c offers professionals an “indispensable
productivity tool in a fashionable design.”
Another Windows Mobile 6 handset, the MOTO Q 9c features an optimized QWERTY keyboard that has been engineered
for fast and accurate typing, with dedicated “hot keys” for shortcuts to popular applications, including e-mail,
multimedia and Internet as well as a large 2.4-inch color display.
The MOTO Q 9c also offers a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash and video, 128 MB of internal memory and optional
removable memory with support up to 32 GB.
The MOTO Q 9c will be available for $249.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate in April.
