Verizon Communications announced a deal to provide directory assistance to customers of Dobson Cellular Systems, a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corp.

Verizon’s LiveSource unit won a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract with Dobson.

The deal is to provide directory services including call completion, movie and restaurant listings, weather forecasts, sports updates and Spanish language services.

Listings can also be forwarded as a text message to wireless handsets.

The companies did not provide an exact value for the contract.

Dobson operates in 16 states and at the end of the second quarter reported a customer base of nearly 1.6 million.
