Nokia has announced that a defective component in the E-90's phone microphone has caused a shortage of
the its Communicator, Nokia's flagship business cell phone.
Nokia said that users have complained about background noise during phone calls and that the interference
was caused by a defective component in the microphone itself.
Nokia spokesman Theresa Parenteau said "although the issue is now rectified, it has resulted in more limited
availability than originally anticipated in some selected markets."
Nokia's E-90 Communicator was first unveiled in February 2007, and was scheduled to be widely available
during the third quarter.
The microphone issue, as well as some additional problems with the keyboard scratching the screen, has set
back availability on the smartphone.
Nokia didn't say when the E-90 Communicator's availability would be back on schedule.
