With the sale of its E-200 Eco, Samsung says this is its third wireless phone introduction in 2008 that uses bioplastics.

Samsung says the materials used to help build the mobile handset are actually extracted from corn.

In fact, Samsung says the case of the device is made entirely out of corn.

Samsung's new E-200 features a 1.3 megapixel camera, video messaging capabilities and an MP3 player.

Earlier in 2008, Samsung introduced two other environmentally friendly mobile phones: the W-510 and the F-268.

Both phones were manufactured for the Asian market using techniques that eliminate harmful materials such as cadmium, lead and mercury.

Although the new E-200 Eco will be available in Europe in September, it doesn’t yet have a release date in the U.S.

A number of other wireless vendors and handset makers are also are going green, including Nokia, which launched a number of environmentally friendly devices in April.
