On the mobile Internet, there is a lot more of market fragmentation as fas as browsers are
concerned, and that's where Nokia commands a very strong presence.
We all know that Microsoft's Internet Explorer has almost an 80 percent market share, but
when we are referring to the mobile Internet, that is where all similarities end.
Running a close second to Nokia’s browser was the mobile browser developed by OpenWave, which garnered a
29.1 percent share of ad views, AdMob said.
Traffic from Motorola handsets was about 52 percent of Openwave’s usage.
Access’s NetFront browser, which is used by Sony Ericsson, was the third most widely used browser with
a 12.1 percent market share.
Still, it won't surprise anyone that Nokia’s mobile phone browser is the world leader.
AdMob, the mobile advertising company, said in its most recent Mobile Metrics Report that Nokia’s
browser was used by 34 percent of the phones accessing ads in AdMob’s network last month.
AdMob also said its mobile ad network saw an 18 percent increase globally in traffic in July, while
U.S. usage grew almost 6 percent.
