Alltel Wireless says it is now offering the BlackBerry Tour, now available for its customers in the 91 U.S. markets
where it operates.
The BlackBerry Tour is also available through Verizon Wireless and Sprint, and now sells through Alltel for
$199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with just a one-year service contract.
Alltel customers also need to spend at least $69.99 a month for a Smart Choice pack.
The smartphone and a one-year contract option are available only to customers in the 91 cellular
market areas that Verizon is required to divest.
Those markets continue to operate as Alltel until sale agreements with AT&T and Atlantic Tele-Network
are approved by the Department of Justice and the FCC.
Alltel points out that the BlackBerry Tour supports 3G networks abroad.
Earlier this week, Alltel launched the Samsung Glint, a clam phone with multimedia functions. It comes with a
VGA camera, Web browser and Bluetooth 2.0.
