Dec. 22, 2006

Alltel Wireless wants to promote itself hard in order to get its high-speed wireless network up and running in several new markets before the close of this year.

And, there's only a few days left before 2007 shows up.

Specifically, Alltel is launching its Axcess Broadband services in South Carolina, Texas and New Mexico.

For its Texas launch, Alltel is offering access to its EV-DO network in Lubbock, Texas and the surrounding communities of Brownfield, Lamesa and Plainview.

This market expansion marks the second round of community rollouts in the state since Monday. Yesterday, the carrier added Athens, Henderson, Longview, Marshall, Mount Vernon, Palestine, Tyler and Mount Pleasant.

Alltel previously launched its Axcess Broadband services in Waco, TX.

The high-speed service also now extends into the New Mexico cities of Artesia, Carlsbad, Hobbs and Roswell.

The South Carolina launch encompasses Columbia and Florence. The high-speed network also is now available in the surrounding communities of Cayce, West Columbia, Dentsville, Lake City and Timmonsville.

Axcess Broadband offers average speeds of 400 kbps to 700 kbps, with maximum speeds up to 2.4 mbps handled by the network.
