Avian Research just published its latest mobile sales ranking report which is based on responses from over
one-hundred mobile service representatives.
Avian's report is also based on managers at mobile phone retail stores of the four major U.S. wireless
carriers, namely AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile USA.
The research brief is designed to be reflective of the American wireless market from both a wireless carrier
market share perspective and from a geographic point of view.
On a subscriber basis, the report also suggests that the four largest mobile carriers represent about
84.9 percent of the U.S. wireless market.
Overall, Research In Motion's BlackBerry Pearl handset has held the top spot on the ranking for five months,
topping the list in April, and the Blackberry Curve dominating the list from May through October.
Avian added wireless carrier information beyond the four largest carriers surveyed by Avian.
Although most of October’s top 10 mobile phones were present on the list last month, the HTC G1, the
LG Electronics Env-2 and the HTC Diamond made their first appearances in October.
At the same time, the LG Rumor, Palm Centro and Nokia model 5310 have all dropped off the list since
September.
Avian's list differs from one recently provided by NPD Group due to different tabulation methods.
