Late yesterday, Visa Mobile has elaborated on its new service for Google’s Android mobile operating system.
The company said that Chase Visa cardholders will have exclusive access to Google's software for an unspecified
limited period.
Visa's new tool enables activities such as receiving notifications about transactions, obtaining offers
from selected Visa merchants and using Google mapping software to locate nearby ATMs.
Initial supporting merchants include 1-800-flowers.com, Bonefish Grill, Jos Bank, Lenovo, overstock.com, Planet
Hollywood and various other eCommerce sites.
Rob Rosenblatt, general manager for Chase's Card Services said “the mobile channel represents an exciting
opportunity for Chase to deliver added value, services and data to our card holders.”
In other news, Motorola said it’s deploying M-Wallet software through Union Mobile Pay. Union is a joint
venture of China Mobile Communications and China UnionPay.
Motorola said “consumers can now personalize their financial needs such as account inquiries, money transfers, bill payments,
utility payments and eTicketing on their cell phones, which will eliminate the need to go to banks or carry bank
cards."
Motorola added "in addition to mobile banking, the platform also provides business-to-consumer (B2C) solutions
for Visa merchants that include merchant membership cards, electronic couponing and prepaid cards.”
