T-Mobile says it is officially dropping its unpopular $18 mobile handset upgrade fee.
The company said the fee was actually dropped Dec. 16 and is permanent.
The fee cancellation applies to all mobile phones regardless of where purchases occurred in the past.
T-Mobile USA also appears to be getting one of Samsung’s new 8-megapixel smartphones. The model T-929, better
known as the Memoir, was recently approved by the FCC.
The phone’s HSDPA 3.6 3G antenna in the 1700 band indicates that it must be for T-Mobile and not other
wireless carriers.
In other news related to the company, a new service manual for T-Mobile’s Google Android-based G1 phone is
now available online, according to the wireless operator.
