Earlier this morning, AT&T and LG unveiled their new LG eXpo handset, a new smartphone with a pico
projector and a 1 Ghz processor that will support AT&T's new HSPA 7.2 technology.
The new eXpo smartphone will be available online beginning next Monday. Like the iPhone, the new wireless
handset will be available exclusively for AT&T customers.
Aimed at business users, the LG eXpo runs the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS and features a 3.2-inch
touchscreen, RSS Viewer, Podcast, aGPS, a 5 megapixel camera with built-in auto flash and a 16 Gb removable
Micro-SD memory card.
What's more, the LG eXpo comes equipped with “Smart Sensor” fingerprint recognition from AuthenTec.
AT&T and LG are the first to offer U.S. subscribers a smartphone that leverages the features and functions
of a smart sensor (SS). It complements the touchscreen user interface of the eXpo by also providing precise
cursor control for text editing, four-way menu navigation and AuthenTec’s turbo-scroll feature for rapid browsing
of long e-mails, contact lists or Web sites.
According to an AT&T press release, the LG eXpo is the first device in North America to support an optional
integrated pico projector. The LG Mobile Projector snaps onto the back of the device and allows users to share
presentations, slideshows and even online videos straight from their mobile phone.
The projector weighs in at just 1.80 ounces and is apparently small enough to fit into the palm of your hand.
The projector features a projection distance of up to 8 feet.
The new eXpo handset will be available to enterprise customers and for purchase online for $199.99 after
mail-in rebate. According to AT&T, the two-year agreement has to be a minimum $69.99 per month.
