The Nielsen Company just released its year-end survey at the most popular trends among U.S. wireless users.
Not surprisingly, the Apple iPhone 3G topped the list of the most popular mobile phones in use between January and October
2009 for the U.S. market.
Overall, the iPhone 3G drew an approximate four-percent share of the embedded base of all mobile subscribers,
followed by the RIM's BlackBerry 8300 Series, the Motorola RAZR V3 Series, the LG VX9100, the LG Voyager, the
Samsung SPH-M540, the BlackBerry 9530 Series, the LG VX9700 and the BlackBerry 8100 Series.
The top brands accessed over mobile phones during the same time period were Yahoo at No. 1, followed by
Google, MSN/Windows Live/Bing, AOL Media Network, Weather Channel, Facebook, CNN Digital Network, Fox
Interactive Media, ESPN and Apple.
In the category of the 'Top Ten' Web sites accessed over wireless phones between January and September 2009,
Google Search ranked No. 1.
Rounding out the top ten were Yahoo Mail at No. 2, followed by Gmail, the Weather Channel, Facebook, Hotmail,
Google Maps, ESPN, AOL E-mail and CNN News.
The Number One ranked mobile video channel was YouTube, followed by FOX, The Weather Channel, Comedy Central,
CBS, ABC, MTV, NBC and ESPN.
It is very clear now that Americans love their iPhone and are looking forward to newer models that will eventually
be offered by Apple.
The iPhone is now a major contributor to the overall global sales at Apple, while computers and Mac OS X
contribute less than they were a year ago.
