Turner Broadcasting and L.M. Ericsson have teamed up to deliver multimedia mobile content from Turner’s Internet, news and entertainment material via Ericsson’s hosting and content management technology.

The two companies confirmed that they’re planning to launch CNN Mobile on Feb. 12 during the 3GSM World Congress trade fair in Barcelona.

Additionally, the collaboration effort will offer carriers mobile content from Turner’s Cartoon Network and Adult Swim programming, the companies said.

The CNN Mobile product will offer an off-deck portal for mobile users, including a searchable archive of two weeks.

More than 2,000 stories will sit with breaking news alerts and video news updates through the hourly updated “World News Now,” the companies said.

Wireless operators will be able to deliver simple access to Turner content through their own branded portals, while end users will have access to content such as the CNN Mobile site directly on their mobile devices, the companies explained.

L.M. Ericsson and Turner's offering is scheduled to be available to CNN users in EMEA and Latin America subscription-free, accessible through CNNmobile.com in all mobile browsers or through operator portals where deals are already in place.

“This partnership is a logical fit where the customer and mobile operators benefit through Turner, focusing on providing innovative news and entertainment content to its global audience. Ericsson will provide the technology behind it,” said Casey Harwood, senior v.p. of Turner’s Digital Media.
