Samsung isn't expected to announce any Android mobile handset at this week’s Mobile World Congress in
Barcelona, Spain.
However, Samsung is planning internally for a release in the second half of 2009, a Samsung marketing
representative said late Friday.
The company is in negotiations with various wireless operators about offering an Android phone, but
details are still sketchy.
Meanwhile, there is also talk that HTC will announce the next version of its Android phone, the G2, on Tuesday.
Samsung did say it will showcase its new solar powered full-touch screen phone, Blue Earth, along with its vision
for environmental sustainability at the show.
Designed to symbolize a flat and rounded shiny pebble, Blue Earth is charged through a solar panel on the back of
the unit.
The new mobile phone is made from recycled plastic extracted from water bottles. The company didn't say which
markets would get the phone, however.
