Yesterday, Verizon Wireless said it is looking to extend its reach in northern California
through a newly announced spectrum license acquisition.
Verizon Wireless has agreed to pay $4.5 million to acquire a wireless spectrum license
from Alpine-Monterey.
The license covers a population of 426,000 people in California's Salinas-Monterey area.
Verizon Wireless says the license will help it boost capacity in the area and meet the growing demand
for wireless services.
On the other side of the country, the carrier announced it spent $318 million in upgrades to its
New England network last year.
