Motorola has announced a new mobile media player, which will play live TV, on-demand video clips and
specific programming saved on digital video recorders.
This announcement is in advance of next week's CES (consumer electronics show) in Las Vegas, NV.
Motorola's new device will have a 4.3-inch screen and a 5-minute memory buffer allowing users to pause live
television.
It will also feature a battery life of up to four hours of playback, and a memory card slot.
Motorola added that the media player will support the DVBH TV standard, backed by Nokia.
The mobile phone manufacturer also announced a new desktop Wi-MAX product.
The new Motorola CPE-i-100 is a single data port, 2.5 GHz PNP (plug-and-play) Wi-MAX desktop
interface.
The wireless modem is part of Motorola's MOTO-Wi4 family of broadband wireless access products.
Motorola expects the CPEI-100 to be available this year for Wi-MAX operators in the 2.5 GHz band.
