Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said that his company doesn't have any plans to build a mobile handset
that would directly compete against Apple's popular iPhone.
Gates made these comments in an interview with German paper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The software giant cited the company's partnerships with various handset manufacturers and said that
within the smartphone market, Microsoft is strongly committed to working solely on its Windows Mobile platform.
While Microsoft may not be a threat to Apple's iPhone, anti-virus software vendor F-Secure released a
warning that the first Trojan malware for the hyped handset has already been detected.
Microsoft added that the Trojan package, which pretends to be an update of Erica's Utilities, contains
false application installation information that will remove legitimate third-party applications when it is
uninstalled.
For its part, F-Secure said that the Trojan app appears as an installer in the iPhone's
firmware 1.1.3 prep.
Additionally, F-Secure added that the malware seems to have been written as a proof of concept by an
11-year old.
The child's father dismantled the hosting site as soon as he was alerted about the issue.
