As the communications regulating agency finds itself under increased investigation by the U.S. House Energy and
Commerce committee, Kevin Martin defended the FCC's practices and its rule-making procedures.
On Tuesday, the committee announced it would launch a formal probe to ascertain whether the FCC's
practices have been fair, open and fully transparent.
Martin said "the practices at the commission I run are very similar to how the commission has been managed under
previous Republican and Democratic commissioners and chairmen."
Martin also has openly agreed that the committee's work should be open and transparent, but he has defended some
of his more criticized practices such as pushing for more quicker voting timelines.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell as well as Joe Barton are heading the
investigation.
The committee has requested that Martin and the commission save all electronic records related to FCC work.
Martin has said he's willing to follow the request.
