Today, Nokia has announced a whole slew of new mobile phones just in time for the Consumer Electronics Show
(CES 2009) in Las Vegas.
The new wireless devices include a smartphone called the N-97, which has a horizontal keyword similar to the
Nokia 9000 series but that is closer in size to a regular cell phone.
Nokia is also introducing the model 1006 for AWS networks, the 7510 dedicated for T-Mobile' customers in
the U.S. and the E-63 with a BlackBerry "looking" design.
Nokia also added that its www.nokia.mobi website will be a default bookmark in all of its new cell phones.
Additionally, the handset maker said that it is working with Philips to help develop home electronics devices
using the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) protocol the 2 companies have developed in 2008.
Nokia's new model 810 was announced in April 2008.
Clearwire opened its first mainstream Wi-MAX service Jan. 7, accelerating the timing of Nokia’s decision.
In other news, Nokia is completely abandoning the production of the N-810 Wi-MAX tablet phone.
A Nokia representative said “the Nokia N-810 Wi-MAX edition has reached the expected end of its life cycle.
We will continue to follow the WiMax network development and new product decisions will be considered based on the
evolution of the business.”
