Late Friday, T-Mobile USA says it has added Meru Networks to its certification list of FMC (fixed-mobile
convergence) providers.
Now business customers can roam between indoor Wi-Fi networks and outdoor mobile and wireless infrastructure
at ease and without any interference.
Sarosh Vesuna, Meru v.p. of business development says “wireless users can now initiate a call using Meru's voice-over-Wi-Fi infrastructure at home, continue
their conversation in the car on the mobile phone network, and move onto the Meru wireless LAN when they
arrive at their offices, all with the same device and with no disruption when moving between networks.”
Even today, the concept of FMC is still rapidly evolving. Some wireless industry analysts experts say
it’s inching toward mainstream acceptance, while others disagree and predict more caution among wireless
carriers.
The two companies will conduct joint marketing and sales efforts, T-Mobile and Meru Network officials added.
