Today, Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it has sold over one million BlackBerry Storms smartphones
since the wireless provider started selling them on Nov. 21, 2008.
It took Verizon less time to reach the one-million mark than it took AT&T when it started selling the iPhone
last year, which actually took it 74 days to sell a million phones.
Of course this pales in comparison to the iPhone 3G, which Apple sold 1 million handsets in just three days.
AT&T added 2.1 million net new subscribers to its wireless service in the fourth quarter, including 1.9 million
iPhone 3G accounts.
The iPhone 3G accounts surprised some wireless analysts who had braced for the worst after Apple recently
reported an unexpected 36 drop in iPhone shipments.
Overall, the iPhone helped boost revenue for Web browsing and video download a little over 50 percent
when compared with 2008's numbers.
