The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) approved Motorola’s new
K1 handset, rumored to be a successor to the Razr.
The K1, as the FCC lists the model, is a quad-band GSM/EDGE phone with
Bluetooth connectivity and support for push-to-talk services.
The clamshell-style phone is reportedly narrower than the Razr.
The phone has previously shown up on gadget-based Web sites as the “Canary.” A similar new Motorola phone, known as the “Capri,” has also been pictured on the Web.
Because Motorola’s current policy is to announce its new phones only when they launch, an official announcement is expected soon.
The Schaumburg, Ill.-based handset vendor is holding its annual analyst day on July 25.
