In an effort to provide higher-quality gear than what is currently offered,
Air802 L.L.C. launched itself into the already crowded wireless infrastructure
fray.
Air802 says it intends to supply North, Central and South American markets
with broadband wireless equipment based on 802.11 and 802.16 technologies.
The start-up supplier has offices and warehouses in the United States and Chile.
Air802 spokesman Mike Bryant confirmed that Air802’s current commercial product line includes outdoor antennas and surge protectors while future offerings will include “core foundation” products such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX access points, Internet Protocol cameras and Voice over Internet Protocol products for wireless networks.
Bryant said Air802 intends to sell directly to carriers, telecom service providers, cable companies and wireless Internet service providers, as well as enterprise clients.
Interestingly, Bryant also confirmed that Air802 is privately held and was funded largely by its principals, with no funds coming from venture capitalist investors as of yet.
Air802’s principals created the company with funds from sister company Techno Pacific L.L.C., which designs, manufactures and distributes multi-channel multipoint distribution systems, or MMDS, wireless equipment.
