Motorola has teamed with Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd. to offer
online mobile games to Chinese users.
The two companies launched mobile versions of two Shanda titles that are
available on a customized version of the Motorola E680g.
The offering allows mobile gamers to interact with players on their computers, and users can transfer points and weapons between the two platforms.
“Shanda’s World of Legend and Magical Land are perhaps the most popular games this country has ever seen,” said Motorola executive Ian Chapman-Banks, “and it is only fitting that they make their mobile debut with Motorola.”
Shares of Shanda bounced up 49 cents, or more than 3 percent, to $14.75 following the news. Motorola shares gained 31 cents, or more than 1 percent, to $22.42.
