Late yesterday, MetroPCS has announced that it is now offering its unlimited wireless services in
the Greater Philadelphia area.
The company says this will provide users the freedom to enjoy more flexible wireless options.
The city of Philadelphia happens to be MetroPCS’ 11th largest market and its first in the Northeast.
MetroPCS now offers unlimited wireless service in all major U.S. regions including the East Coast, Southeastern
U.S., Midwest, Central and Western regions.
As part of the launch, MetroPCS will open 6 company stores in the greater Philadelphia area, as well as
offering services from 132 authorized resellers.
The company wants to add additional locations by the end of 2008.
John Shelton, v.p. and G.M. for MetroPCS’ Philadelphia market said “Philadelphia marks a true milestone for
MetroPCS because it's our initial expansion into the Northeast.”
He added “our flat-rate, unlimited, low cost service plans make MetroPCS an affordable, worry-free and
planned expense for consumers looking to reduce extra spending and streamline their budgets. We encourage
anyone to bring us their existing phone number and try our service.”
Metro PCS said it wants to significantly grow its market penetration in most major U.S. cities,
to increase its current market share in markets where the company already offers wireless services,
and to continue its expansion program well into 2010.
