Sprint launched Palm’s latest Treo 800w, a Windows Mobile 6.1 wireless handset designed specifically
for business users.
The new Treo 800w runs on Sprint’s mobile broadband network with support for EV-DO Rev. A data speeds,
as well as Wi-Fi and GPS.
The new Treo 800w handset also includes a full Qwerty keyboard, 5-way navigation and 1-touch
buttons to the most-used applications.
Stephane Maes, group v.p. of product marketing said “Palm is also adding a unique stamp to the Windows
Mobile experience with the Treo 800w. It's an easy-to-use feature-packed smartphone that will keep users
happy, empowered and productive.”
Along with Wi-Fi and GPS, Palm’s enhancements on the Treo include: Today Screen enhancements that let
users call, text, e-mail, search the Internet and map a contact's address all from the Today Screen,
voicemail controls that include VCR-like icons, such as rewind, delete and fast-forward, for easy voicemail
navigation.
The Treo 800w is available through Sprint for $249.99 after discounts and rebates with a 2-year contract.
You can also buy it through Palm if you prefer. Along with the Treo 800w, Sprint recommends an unlimited data plan.
Along with Palm’s and Window’s handset feature upgrades, Sprint announced that it expects new business
applications to be available soon as part of its recently launched Professional Developer Program.
