Ericsson and 3 Italia say they have established a new benchmark using enhanced HSPA mobile-data
connections in 3 Italia’s existing wireless network.
The enhanced HSPA technology enables maximum uplink data rates of 5.8 Mbps.
The new technology also yields a significant reduction in network latency, while improving data
throughput by over 32 percent the two companies said.
Ericsson added that the higher uplink data rates and lowered latency in the mobile network greatly improve
the performance of interactive communications.
For instance, the faster uplink will provide an improved consumer experience in areas such as video
conferencing, uploading user-generated content and sending emails with larger attachments.
The new technology also offers improved performance for interactive online gaming, 3 Italia said.
