In the last few days, there's been some rumors that a potential launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 could be
attempted by RIM (Research In Motion).
The long-awaited smartphone features optical trackpad navigation to replace the BlackBerry’s traditional
trackball. There are some people that are getting really impatient with this, and wished they could put their
hands on the widely-anticipated unit.
A slide showing off the new BlackBerry device suggests an Aug. 5 retail release date at all T-Mobile locations.
So far, nobody at RIM has either confirmed or denied the rumor. Phone calls made to the company were not
returned late yesterday.
According to the slide, the new Curve 8520 features a form factor similar to that of the BlackBerry Storm
and will include all the usual features, including a Qwerty keyboard. The device also will be enabled with Wi-Fi
and BlueTooth functionality.
Presumably leaked from T-Mobile, the slide states that the new device is “an exciting entry-level addition
to T-Mobile’s BlackBerry line-up and will replace the BlackBerry Curve 8320.”
There was no mention of a launch price either.
Research In Motion recently released the BlackBerry Tour on Sprint and Verizon’s networks.
In the next couple of days, it will be interesting to see if this rumor is confirmed, as some people
can't wait to get their hands on the new device.
