Today, Yahoo has announced the launch of its Go for Mobile v. 2.0 service in the U.S., after having been in beta since January 2007.

Yhaoo also announced that it has signed partnership agreements with six mobile carriers in Asia, with a subscriber base of almost 100 million wireless users.

Yahoo's new Go for Mobile service will be available on about two-hundred different cell phones in the U.S. by the end of this month.

Additionally, Yahoo said its new service will work on about 400 different models available by the end of 2007, and will come preloaded on new devices released this year.

Among the improvements: faster downloading, better e-mail with ability to read attachments, better search results and more powerful maps.

Newer beta versions will also be available in 13 countries by June 22.

Marco Boerries, executive v.p. of the Connected Life Division at Yahoo said "today's launch signals to the world that Yahoo Go is ready for primetime. With the tremendous consumer response to date, we believe that Yahoo Go will be a catalyst for broader adoption of the mobile Internet."

The new Asian partnerships will focus on the distribution of Yahoo's mobile search application, Yahoo oneSearch, which launched in Asia in May.

Yahoo oneSearch is now available in fourteen countries and offers access to news, weather reports, financial information, Flickr and various mobile Web sites.
