Today, Nokia says it has has unveiled a new series of mobile phones called Supernova, designed for teenagers and style-conscious men and women.

The new mobile phones have interchangeable faceplates and predefined access to features such as Yahoo’s Flickr picture-sharing site and the Nokia Music Store.

Features of the low-end 7210 include an SD card slot and 2-megapixel camera. It will ship in Q3 for about $189.

Overall, the 7310 has a slim design and 3-D textured covers, plus instant messaging and games. It will be available in Q2 for about $245.

Buyers of the 7510 get a folding device with what Nokia calls magical light effects, 2.2-inch QVGA display and a Web browser with unspecified usability tweaks. It will ship in Q4 for about $285.

Meanwhile, the 7610 offers a sliding design, display themes, a 3.2-megapixel camera and a dedicated music button. It will be available in Q3 for about $355, officials said.

Nokia's new models include the 7210, 7310, 7510 and 7610. The handsets feature a mix of bold colors and modern designs, evoking the allure of the latest statement handbags or must-have sunglasses.”

Nokia wouldn't say whether the Supernova series is limited to these four devices or if there will be others soon.

But the company did say there won’t be a model 7410.

Nokia usually avoids the number 4 in its products because it indicates bad luck in some Eastern countries, similar to 13 in the United States, said spokesman Keith Nowak.
