Verizon Wireless is agressively pursuing Revision A (Rev. A) enhancements on its CDMA 1X EV-DO network.
Verizon Wireless announced yesterday the addition of two new markets: Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
Lately, the Tier 1 carrier has been very busy upgrading its broadband network and now has Rev. A upgrade
presence in parts of more than 35 states nationwide.
The company's Rev. A improvements provide 8 to 9 times the upload speeds of Rev. 0.
As an example, Broadband Access users in enhanced broadband wireless coverage areas can expect
average download speeds of 600 kbps to 1.4 MB, and average upload speeds of 500 kbps to 800 kbps.
Translated, customers can download a 1 MB email attachment – the equivalent of a small PowerPoint presentation
or a large PDF file – in less than 15 seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 25 seconds.
Rev. A market customers can use the new compact USB-720 wireless modem, the AirCard 595 or the PC-5750 PC
Card to achieve the improved speeds.
They are fully compatible with Verizon Wireless' existing network.
