Adobe Systems has reportedly named Verizon Wireless as its exclusive North American wireless carrier for delivering its FlashCast mobile service applications.

Adobe says its FlashCast service will enable mobile phone users easy access to personalized and intuitive data services through Adobe Flash Player-compatible applications called Mobile Channels.

Cell phone users will be able to select from always-on channels with content ranging from sports and weather, to news, entertainment, music and much more.

Verizon Wireless' FlashCast service is expected to include a series of basic and premium channels across a variety of different handsets.

Premier content providers and leading media brands are currently building channels that are expected to be available in the second half of this year.

The wireless carrier has also announced two new handsets that support its V-Cast Mobile TV application.

The LG VX9400's slim, swing bar design is equipped with a large color LCD screen for better TV viewing.

And Samsung's SCH-u620 features a two-inch QVGA 240 x 320 pixel LCD screen, a dedicated V-CAST Mobile TV key and a retractable V-CAST Mobile TV antenna.
