Nokia has been sued again by Qualcomm, this time on five different patents.
Qualcomm says the patents relate to application downloading over wireless networks, and speech encoders used
in some mobile phones.
Qualcomm said the five lawsuits concern Nokia GSM/GPRS/EDGE cellular phones, and that it wants an injunction
against sales of the handsets as well as related damages to those already sold by Nokia.
Nokia believes this latest action appears to be part of a pattern of serial litigation by Qualcomm, said
a Nokia spokeswoman.
She said "we believe this suit is also without merit. Nokia will actively defend itself to ensure the
rights of the company are fully protected."
Qualcomm's most recent lawsuit follows another one that Nokia is pursuing against Qualcomm in Germany and the
Netherlands.
The two companies have also been battling over the renewal of a major technology licensing agreement that
expires April 9.
