Digital music provider Puretracks has signed a partnership agreement with RIM (Research In Motion).
Originally designed in conjunction with Magnet Mobile Media, Puretracks’s new DRM-free mobile music store
for BlackBerry smartphones will work with all BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry 8800 series
smartphones, RIM said.
The new service uses digital music technology developed exclusively for wireless handsets using compressed
AAC/AAC+ file formats promising reduced download time and storage capacity required while maintaining real CD
quality sound.
Puretracks says its technology for the new media has a footprint half the size of MP-3 files and downloads
120 percent faster.
RIM and Puretracks unveiled a sneak peek of the service for BlackBerrys at the Southwest event in Austin,
Texas, on March7.
A full version of the Puretracks mobile music service will launch at CTIA Wireless in two weeks.
