Hearst Corp. strongly believes in the Apple Mobile Apps Store as a potential new source of revenue.
LMK (Let Me Know), a Hearst-owned digital service that provides information on a wide range of subjects, announced
yesterday the availability of 62 iPhone apps of all kinds.
Each LMK iPhone app provides news and photo streams that are continuously updated from a variety of sources.
Hearst Corp. promises additional product enhancements in the coming months as well. LMK will also offer marketers
the ability to sponsor an app that is timely and relevant to their brand.
The new mobile apps harness LMK's coverage on a variety of subjects, ranging from baseball players and teams to
50 Cent, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
The apps are priced starting at 99 cents and LMK expects to expand its mobile product offerings on a monthly
basis.
LMK's apps can be downloaded from Apple's App Store as well as through LMK.com and can be used on the iPhone
and iPod Touch.
Michael Gutkowski, president of LMK says "LMK is doing something unprecedented by releasing large groups of topic-specific iPhone apps that enable
consumers to break through the clutter, giving them access to authoritative, up-to-the-minute content on the topics
that matter most to them. Whether it's the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter or Paris Hilton, our platform gives us the
ability to deliver a user experience that's targeted, informative and entertaining."
Hearst Corp. is one of the largest media companies in the United States.
