As expected, the Senate on Sunday confirmed FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein to a full 5-year term.
The confirmation came during a hectic lame duck session that has seen some turmoil for wireless-related legislation.
Bills that would fund E911 efforts and spectrum migration have been bogged down. Congress plans to come back Dec. 6-7 in a final session before it adjourns permanently and is expected to pick up on President Bush's intelligence reform bill.
Adelstein's confirmation was welcomed by the wireless industry.
'Jonathan has proven himself to be an intelligent, thoughtful and hard working commissioner, and we certainly look forward to continuing a positive dialogue with him on a host of wireless issues,' said CTIA President and CDO Steve Largent in a statement this morning.
'Throughout his distinguished career in federal government, Commissioner Adelstein has supported policies that promote and foster innovation and competition.
He has done this to the great benefit of the American wireless consumer.'
