Cingular Wireless is hoping to increase mobile content sales with the launch of prepaid, redeemable cards.
The company is targeting holiday shoppers with what it calls "tone cards" that can be purchased over
Cingular phones.
The cards are also available through retail locations or through the carrier’s Web site.
A $10 card buys four ringtones or images. $20 cards are good for eight pieces of content.
“As the quality and range of ringtones have advanced over the years, so has their popularity,” said Roby
Hyatt, Cingular’s executive director of premium content.
“Overall, ringtones provide an easy and inexpensive way for consumers to personalize their mobile experience.
Cingular Wireless believes that our Tone Cards will make it even more convenient to do so” added Hyatt.
