Today, Motorola announces that its board of directors has appointed President and Chief Operating Officer
Greg Brown as its new CEO.
Mr. Brown will succeed Ed Zander, who will step down from the position on Jan. 1, 2008.
However, Ed Zander will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors of Motorola until May
of next year.
Greg Brown joined Motorola four years ago and led the $3.9 billion acquisition of Symbol Technologies, the
mobile phone maker's second largest transaction in the company's history.
Before joining Motorola, Brown served as chairman and CEO of the network management software company Micromuse
Inc.
Over the years, Brown also previously held positions at AT&T, Ameritech Custom Business Services and Ameritech
New Media Inc.
Motorola's board wishes to extend its congratulations to Mr. Brown.
