The CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) has just announced its new officers and executive
committee members for next year.
Robert Dotson, CEO of T-Mobile and former CTIA vice-chairman will become CTIA's new chairman. Dotson succeeds
Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Wireless
CTIA acting CEO Steve Largent says "Robert has distinguished himself as a leader in the highly competitive
wireless industry."
He added "this will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to the Association and the industry in his new role as Chairman. I look forward to working with Robert in the coming year as we continue
promoting public policies and initiatives that benefit all wireless consumers."
Bret Comolli, CEO of Asurion and Michael Small, CEO of Centennial Communications will serve as treasurer
and secretary, respectively.
The CTIA also announced Ralph de la Vega as vice chairman. De la Vega is CEO of AT&T Mobility.
New committee members include Ben Wolff, CEO of Clearwire; F.J. Pollack, CEO of TracFone Wireless;
and Jack Rooney, CEO of U.S. Cellular.
In other news, the CTIA said former U.S. vice-president and Nobel prize winner Al Gore will keynote
the organization’s April 2009 tradeshow in Atlanta, GA.
