Microsoft will soon launch a new Windows Mobile browser that will resemble surfing the Internet on a desktop.
A number of Windows Mobile device makers have already removed Internet Explorer Mobile in favor of other
browsers, and the software giant dosen't want to miss out on the rapidly growing mobile phone market.
For instance, the new Xperia X-1 smartphone from Sony Ericsson includes the Opera 9.5 Internet browser.
According to Microsoft’s post, emulators and documentation for Internet Explorer Mobile 6 are already now
available.
Features of the new browser include improved fidelity, layout fixes to accommodate a mobile screen, deeper
integration with search, enhanced cursor navigation model and multiple zoom levels.
Microsoft is inviting mobile developers to try out the emulator and give it their comments.
On Microsoft's blog, a member of the Windows Mobile team by the name of Khush commented with additional
information on the new browser. Khush wrote that it will show up in mobile devices at the end of this year or
in mid-January.
He also added that it cannot be treated as a download for existing handsets because the new mobile browser
“requires more powerful, advanced devices.”
