Initially a voice portal company, Audiopoint is in the process of transforming itself as a text-to-speech
specialist for mobile handsets.
Audiopoint said Nov. 20 that it is expected to announce Voice Terminal, which is a toll-free 1-800 number
service for accessing and interacting with a Google Calendar account.
The new service currently costs a few dollars per month.
Audiopoint is also considering an advertising-supported service, CEO Brian Lichorowic said.
But it’s important for ads to be useful, not annoying, Lichorowic added. As an example, mobile ads could offer
coupons or some other forms of discounts on goods or services, rather than just forcing people to wait and listen
for thirty seconds or more.
Previously working at Internet portal "C-U-SeeMe" Lichorowic said that Audiopoint is now profitable and has
large enterprise voice customers, such as Coca-Cola, EarthLink and even General Mills.
