Best Buy and Verizon Wireless have both reduced their retail prices on netbooks, Wi-Fi devices and smartphones
just in time for the annual Black Friday Sale that takes place across all U.S. stores tomorrow.
Verizon Wireless has cut the price of its Gateway LT Netbook to $30 with a rebate and a two-year contract.
The wireless carrier has also slashed the price of the Mi-Fi 2200 personal hotspot device to just $50 after
its usual rebate.
In addition to the reduced pricing on the netbook and personal hotspot, Verizon is also offering the HTC
Ozone and the Blackberry Pearl for just $10 and the LG Versa and Nokia 7705 Twist for $30.
However, these special deals are only good from Friday, Nov. 27 through Monday, Nov. 30.
For its part, Best Buy has dropped the price of the Palm Pre to just $80 for Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday,
Nov. 28. Sprint’s MiFi device will be offered for free with a two-year contract on those days, and the wireless
carrier’s HTC Hero and Samsung Moment comprise two of the five Android-based smartphones being sold for just $99.
Best Buy is also selling five Android-based phones for $99 each with a new two-year contract, including
the Motorola Cliq and the Droid Eris.
The big box store is also offering discounts on several devices running on Sprint’s mobile network.
Not wanting to be left out of the game, AT&T is also opening a new 6,000 square-foot retail store in Times
Square on Black Friday.
The wireless giant is reportedly offering deals there between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon, without offering
any specifics.
A phone message left to an AT&T spokesperson late yesterday was left unanswered at press time.
Like last year, 2009's Black Friday annual event sure looks to be another door crasher. We expect
to see a lot of people waiting outside before the stores open.
The deals announced by Verizon and Best Buy sure looks good to us.
Then of course, in exactly one month from now will also be another major door crasher: Boxing Day.
There were some very good deals to be had at last year's boxing day, and most wireless industry
analysts expect a repeat of 2008 for this year as well.
We will keep you posted.
