Handset-maker Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications posted another
solid quarter, with revenues, income and unit shipments all tracking up.
"This has been a good quarter for Sony Ericsson, proving that our strategy of expanding the product portfolio upward into best-in-class imaging, music and 3G products while increasing the number of more affordable and attractively designed volume models is paying off," said Miles Flint, the company's president.
"We are increasingly benefiting from the opportunities created by the joint-venture, and with three new Walkman phones shipping in the fourth quarter (W550, W600, W900), we are optimistic that Sony Ericsson can set the standard in music as well as imaging going forward."

Specifically, Sony Ericsson watched its quarterly shipments hit 13.8 million, up from the 10.7 million it recorded in the same quarter a year ago.
The company's revenues also increased to around $2.5 billion while its net income popped to $125 million.
The company's results offer further evidence that the handset market continues to accelerate-despite some analyst predictions that it would begin to cool off this year. Indeed, Sony Ericsson raised its industrywide sales estimate to 760 million phones for 2005.
