Embarq Corp. plans to offer its wireless customers push-to-talk services and parental controls on a Sanyo model 2400 mobile phone.

Embarq, which has a mobile virtual network operator relationship with Sprint Nextel after being spun off from the larger company earlier this year, indicated that the PTT service is targeted at both business customers and mobile families.

Embarq’s Wireless Press & Talk service will cost an additional $6 per month for wireless voice customers, and subscribers can use the unlimited walkie-talkie feature to contact up to five other Embarq subscribers.

Embarq is offering the Sanyo 2400 for $30 with the activation of a new line of service on a two-year agreement.

The parental controls allow parents to “manage how and when the phone is used,” according to the operator, but also allows specially selected numbers to always be accessible, even when the phone is otherwise locked.

Embarq recently introduced a business-targeted service that allows phone calls to be transferred between the wide area cellular network and a landline network, or between cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
