Sprint says that it is moving its wireline services business unit into a separate division at its headquarters.
The move had been anticipated for the past four weeks, and will give Sprint Nextel better flexibility and
improved control for its wireline business.
Sprint's new wireline unit will help its business customers by offering managed services such as IP WAN,
online self-service tools and hosted security.
Additional business services will be announced in December, Sprint Nextel officials said.
The company plans to announce additional services during the remainder of this year and of 2009 to
further define its managed service portfolio.
Sprint's announcement comes the day after rival AT&T’s larger reorganization, in which there is also a
new business unit.
Dan Dooley, formerly Sprint’s president of wireline services said “building on many years of wireline
leadership, our new wireline business unit formalizes processes across Sprint Nextel and fully demonstrates
our commitment to continue to deliver industry-leading converged solutions to customers.”
