Verizon Wireless said that it is still confident its $26.1 billion acquisition of smaller rival
Alltel will close by the end of 2008, a carrier representative said today.
To this date, no new information was available other than Verizon’s possible requirement to leave
certain markets as a government condition for approving the wireless merger between the two companies.
On August 28, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said that integration plans were well under way.
However, McAdam didn't specify how many jobs would be eliminated if the acquisition goes through
as planned.
